Our guide (who talked perfect English) knew everything about the animals, their behaviours and their stories. We really got to know how much effort and love they put in to rescue these animals. It's definitely worth a visit!Julian Tarjan Muy bonito el lugar vale la pena ir y conocer los animales y senderos además el personal muy amable y cuentan con restaurante tambiénJose david Montoya Linda experienciaEnrique Carmona Great experience recommended!Marc André Landry Our tour guide Dylan was excellent. Based on 305 reviews Hidden gem! A little off the beaten path, but well worth the drive! Our tour guide, Dylan, was not only very knowledgeable, but also incredibly patient with our 6 year old son, also named Dylan, who has autism, ADHD, and an extreme fondness for all things nature related, which led to him asking about a million questions and sharing tons of “fun facts” about animals and nature throughout the tour. Dylan responded to all of his questions/comments and we all learned a lot. They also bonded over a mutual love of the Wild Kratts and my son was super excited to learn that they had a pair of birds named Chris and Martin! All in all, a very enjoyable outing for our family. If you have a nature lover in your group, I would highly recommend a visit!Gwen S Support a great cause visit!!! Great little wildlife rescue, visiting helps support their cause of rehabilitation of injured and orphaned animals and also helps care for those who can not return to the wild. Very friendly at reception, we were not there at right time for tour so we did a self guided tour. We were able to walk in and buy tickets without reservation. It started to rain so they brought us umbrellas. Variety of different animals.Marcy S Up close and personal with rescued animals The sanctuary is fantastic. They let you visit the animals that can’t be returned to the wild to fund their real work of returning animals to the wild. The tour gives great insights and awesome knowledge. The collection was amazing while also a bit sad. Devastating what humans can do to these poor creatures. Please go and help save more wildlife.Kirk J Great family experience and meaningful visit A visit to Apami is a great way to give back for those visiting Guanacaste who are looking to do something a bit different from the usual tourist activities. This was a wonderful family-friendly activity - my 5 and 8 year old kids loved learning about the animals under Apami Wildlife Sanctuary care, and we were thoroughly impressed by how much our guide, Dylan, could tell us not only about the animals but about the local plants and the cultural relevance of the land and environment in Costa Rica. Highly educational and an opportunity to get close to nature in the region. Not all of the animals are local to Costa Rica because some were originally brought to the country illegally from other Central and South American locations and couldn't be returned after being rescued from exploitative situations, but it was well worth a visit to support this lovely non-profit by participating in their guided tour. Would recommend bug spray and long pants because its in a forested setting - but otherwise the activity is very accessible for anyone - no strenuous walking, a short distance to travel, and its well-shaded.JML1230 Loved Visiting This Refuge for Injured Costa Rican Wildlife This was a highlight of our trip. We took an Uber from Tamarindo. We were greeted by our guide, Dillon. He took us through the rescue center telling us (and six others) the situation of all the animals that have taken refuge there. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to make the at times dark stories (humans vs wild animals) hopeful by acknowledging how we can change our behaviors to save more animals. All the animals were in good-sized cages and clearly well cared for and loved. Dillon also shared facts and other info on the flora and fauna in the area near the refuge. Really fascinating stuff. Highly recommend.Lauraintenley Wonderful and educational! :) This is a wonderful place, founded by wonderful women and supported by passionate volunteers. Highly recommend the tour. You not only learn about all the animals' stories, but also about Costa Rican culture and plants. It was a lot of fun, thank you! :)Passport19487956066 This is a wonderful experience for both children and adults. Very informative and fun! What a great spot and worthy cause. Wonderful staff, knowledgable and so fun to learn from. Dylan and Clara are amazing and the animals are well cared for. Not only did we learn so much about the animals, but also the plants and trees on the area. Highly recommend the tour. And it is so close to Brasilito, Flamingo Beach and Tamarindo. Not to be missed!Marnee T Wonderful experience! Dylan was a great tour guide! We learned so much and we had so much fun seeing all of the rescued animals. Our one year old was even entertained for the whole tour!Maggie F
